In the rest of the master's degrees, the average grade in previous studies will remain at 7 points.
The Ministry of Education and Vocational Training proposes lowering the academic requirements to access a scholarship to study a qualifying master's degree, one that needs to be completed after certain degrees to practice a regulated profession, such as a lawyer, secondary school teacher, general health psychologist and some engineering. As of the 2021-2022 academic year, the note that will be needed to access a scholarship from the Ministry to study a qualifying master's degree in Spain will be 5 points in previous studies (that is, a average mark of the academic record of the Degree of at least five points). Until this year, the requirement was to have a 6.5 average to benefit from the tuition scholarship. This reduction in the qualifying master's degree is included in the draft of the Royal Decree establishing the income and family wealth thresholds and the amounts of scholarships and study aid for the 2021-2022 academic year, still pending approval. The RD partially modifies the one that establishes the regime of scholarships and personalized study aids, being worded as follows: "First-year students of Master's degrees that qualify or that are a necessary condition for the exercise of a regulated profession must prove a average grade of 5.00 points in the previous studies that give them access to the Master. In the remaining Master's studies, said average grade will be 7.00 points. For these purposes, the average grades from technical education studies will be multiplied by the coefficient 1.17. Students in the second year of Master's degrees that enable or are a necessary condition for the exercise of a regulated profession must prove an average grade of 5.00 points in the first year. In the remaining Master's studies, said average grade will be 7.00 points. In both cases, it will be required to have passed all the credits of the first year."In this way, while the average grade is expected to decrease to study a qualifying master's degree with a scholarship, the one required for the rest of the master's degrees will remain at 7 points, both in the first and second years of the master's degree.
