The Night of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) had several activities, of which the presentation made by the head of the portfolio, Moisés Bertoni, on the plans and works that the portfolio has been developing, stood out. farmer. The activity was developed at the MAG stand within the Rural Association of Paraguay (ARP).

The Secretary of State explained the progress of various projects and all the growth of segments such as the dairy sector, leather and meat exports, which position Paraguay as a serious country in terms of production.

“We are closing a relatively positive year in terms of exports of animal origin, with close to US$ 1,500 million so far this year,” said the MAG minister.

He added that the procedures carried out in the agricultural and livestock portfolio stand out in three main axes, which are: institutional management, goods and services for the agricultural sector, and coordination and articulation with the agricultural sector.

For his part, the Vice Minister of Livestock, Marcelo Andrés González Ferreira, presented a summary of the main achievements of the Vice Ministry of Livestock so far in 2021 .

Regarding the beekeeping sector, this year an agreement was signed in Alto Paraguay that directly benefits some 15,000 families that produce 75,000 beehives that produce 1 million tons of honey and smaller amounts of wax, pollen , propolis, royal jelly, apitoxins and living material. It should be noted that this value chain encompasses some 225,000 families.

He pointed out that this year it was possible to open markets in public purchases, due to the inclusion of honey in the school nutritional supplement, in addition to the participation of producers in agricultural fairs, together with the development for the first time of a specialized credit portfolio and beekeeping insurance.

Regarding the Procreation Rate Increase Program (ATP), specialized technical advice was carried out on beef cattle in eight departments of the Eastern Region and in two departments of the Western Region, including management among the topics developed. , sanitation, genetics and nutrition.

He explained that steps were also taken to obtain straws acquired from different genetic centers, breed breeder associations in coordination with the ARP.

In addition, they carried out work in conjunction with Senacsa, Fundassa, governments, municipalities, associations and cooperatives.
