Dubai continues to promote cycling as an environmentally friendly mode of transportation as part of its efforts to become the city with the lowest carbon footprint in the world. It also has comprehensive plans to expand the current 463 km of cycle tracks to 759 km by 2026 in line with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan launched by the UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. which aims to make Dubai the best city in the world to live in and improve the quality of life for citizens, residents and visitors.

During the cooler months of the year, the city's state-of-the-art bike tracks attract people of all ages and skill levels who want to stay active while taking in the breathtaking views of the city. From dedicated outdoor cycling tracks for competitive training to recreational cycling routes, Dubai's growing cycling community is spoiled for choice.

The Highways and Transport Authority (RTA) and the Dubai Municipality have designed over 20 dedicated cycle lanes in areas including Downtown Dubai, Dubai Water Canal, Al Sufouh, Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Beach Road, 2nd December Street, Al Rigga, Jabel Ali , Al Quoz, Al Qudra, Saih Al Salam, Bab Al Shams, Al Barsha, Hor Al Anz, Al Qusais, Oud Metha, Al Mankhool, Al Karama, Al Khawaneej, Al Warqa, Expo 2020 Dubai and Nad Al Sheba.

More than 760 bikes are also available for rent at 74 bike rental stations located in different areas of the city such as Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Beach Road, JLT, Al Rawda, Barsha Heights, Dubai Water Canal, Dubai Media City ,Downtown Dubai. and Al Qudra, as well as Al Karama and Al Mankhool.

Dubai's State-of-the-Art Cycle Paths encourage communities to embrace a physically active lifestyle

Offering a one-of-a-kind outdoor experience, Dubai Cycling Tracks are among a diverse set of attractions highlighted by the Dubai Media Council's recently launched #DubaiDestinations initiative to showcase the exceptional events and activities it offers the emirate.

Among the most popular slopes in Dubai and the longest of them is the Al Qudra slope. Offering female cyclists stunning views of the desert, the 135km track stretches from the Al Barari area to Bab El Shams along Al Qudra road and is often a favorite path for professional athletes. The track has two paths: a shorter path of 18 km and a longer path of 50 km. Visitors to the track can also easily rent a bike at Al Qudra.

Another unique place where people can ride mountain bikes is in Hatta. The 52 km dedicated mountain biking trail has four different levels for riders with different abilities and abilities. The area is ideal for cyclists who want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a ride through the picturesque mountainous area. Cyclists can also rent bikes in the area and other essentials.

Converted from a camel track, the 13km Nad Al Sheba bike path offers cyclists mesmerizing views of downtown Dubai and Burj Khalifa. Located near the Meydan racecourse, the track, which is illuminated at night, features 4km, 6km and 8km circuits and a special track for children.

Dubai Autodrome, a world-class motorsports and entertainment facility, also offers a 2.46 km closed circuit that can be a perfect option for beginners or those who are taking up the sport after a long time.

For those looking to use bicycles for daily commuting, to stay active or as an environmentally friendly means of mobility, the RTA and the Dubai Municipality have built dedicated lanes to ensure the safety of users in densely populated areas. populated. The most prominent of these roads is the Al Khawaneej road, which stretches for 19 km and connects the Al Khawaneej community with the Mushrif Park road. Another important track is the Jumeirah track which stretches 16 km along the Jumeirah beach. Recently completed, the track was built under the directives of the Crown Prince of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. It connects the existing Jumeirah Street cycle path parallel to the Dubai Water Canal with the existing cycle path next to King Salman bin AbdulAziz Al Saud Street located in Dubai Internet City. In addition, there is the 13 km Meydan track that connects the area to Business Bay, the 7 km Dubai Water Canal cycle track and the 5 km Dubai Marina route.

Dubai's newest cycling tracks are at the heart of Expo 2020 Dubai. More than 10 km of cycle paths were developed at the mega-event to facilitate transportation across the site, in addition to 50 km of shared pedestrian paths around Expo 2020 Dubai bus stops. A total of 230 bikes displayed at 23 stations are available to book via the Careem Bike app, which was launched through a collaboration between Careem and RTA. RTA has also developed more than 160 shaded bike shelters at Expo 2020 Dubai.

Visitors to public parks can also cycle amid lush green scenery. The Dubai Municipality has developed special bicycle lanes that extend 1.5 km in Al Barsha Pond Park, 3 km in Al Warqa Park, 3.4 km in Mushrif Park and 3.2 km in Quranic Park. All these tracks provide a relaxed environment for families and children to practice cycling.

The civic body is also implementing 65 km cycle paths within ten public parks to serve park visitors and encourage physical activity in the city in line with the emirate's vision to develop infrastructure projects of high quality that improve the quality of people. of life.

Dubai Municipality recently completed the first phase of a project to create a 50km mountain bike track in Mushrif National Park. Located in the middle of the park's lush forest that has 70,000 trees, the mountain bike track has been designed and built according to the highest international standards, safety specifications and technical guidelines, in keeping with the unique topography of the region. . The first phase of the project, which has been completed, spans 20 km.

Dubai's world-class cycling infrastructure and facilities have also seen a variety of international sports championships hosted in the city.
