The Good End 2021 has already started and will end on November 16. In order to use the brand of this event, businesses must register as participants on the official website www.elbuenfin.org.

By registering, businesses can use the El Buen Fin brand and inform about their offers or promotions, so that consumers can identify them.

However, there are businesses that use the El Buen Fin brand without being registered, and may be subject to a fine.

What happens if the El Buen Fin brand is used without registering?

According to the official site of El Buen Fin, in the event that a business uses the brand without having made the registration, in addition to the withdrawal of the use of the mark, will be subject to a sanction, depending on the infringement committed.

The foregoing is due to the fact that misleading advertising is made by companies that, without being registered in El Buen Fin, pose as registered, or make announcements that confuse the public, making them assume that they are registered.

The use of the El Buen Fin brand and logo should not be modified in any way, because it is a trademark registered by the Ministry of Economy.

How much could the fine be?

The head of the Federal Consumer Attorney's Office (Profeco), Ricardo Sheffield Padilla, warned at the launch of this year's campaign that sanctions against businesses or businesses that engage in misleading advertising, during this period or outside the program, will be an average of 3 million pesos.

Can I be fined for using the trademark El Buen Fin without being registered?

“The penalty for misleading promotion is an average of three and a half million pesos. The last Good End and ancestor we did not have any problems of this nature, ”he mentioned.

In addition, he recalled that during the Good End of last year, 63 complaints were registered, a large part of these are about offering products that are not in stock. The official mentioned the case of Liverpool and Walmart, since they are businesses that in previous editions offered products without availability.

"We hope that this Good End will not happen again and we will be paying special attention to both electronic and on-site sales of these two specific providers, because they are the ones that have presented the most problems in the past," he added .

The head of Profeco indicated that they will be taking care that these offers are respected and fulfilled, since there will be more than a thousand officials walking the streets around the commercial areas, obviously respecting a healthy distance.
