The Portuguese capital has welcomed a new hotel for lifestyle lovers, with exquisite design and a friendly spirit.

Mama Shelter, the French chain of daring, colorful and fun hotels, has landed in Lisbon this January with the opening of Mama Lisboa, the brand's first in the Iberian Peninsula.

Mama Shelter is a company founded by a family that has revolutionized the world of hospitality with an original approach that takes risks and is affordable.

Founded in Paris in 2008 by the Trigano family, the co-founders of Club Med, Mama Shelter offers a blend of shared fun and exceptional service in cities and neighborhoods with unique histories.

Mama Lisboa is located in the heart of Lisbon, between the vibrant Príncipe Real and the monumental Marqués de Pombal Square, and just a 10-minute walk from Eduardo VII Park, from where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city.

Guests at Mama Lisboa are just a stone's throw from hidden historical treasures and attractions waiting to be discovered. Located between traditional cafes and cultural institutions, next to the iconic Botanical Garden and the well-known Avenida Liberdade, Mama Lisboa immerses itself in the dynamic atmosphere of the city to provide a true Lisbon experience.

In keeping with the character of the Portuguese capital, Mama Lisboa has a vibrant and colorful spirit, as well as more “edgy” design elements, drawn by hand and made to measure to create an atmosphere (almost) as unique as the one in one of the seven hills of Lisbon. Bringing the spirit of the capital to life, Mama Shelter aims to be a space where both travelers and locals can come together and share multiple experiences.

The hotel is always open for guests who wish to visit the rooftop bar and restaurant, a key element of the Mama Lisboa concept, which co-founder Serge Trigano defines as “a restaurant with rooms above”.

Mama Shelter hotels are located in cities rich in history and life, embracing local heritage. The design of the Mama Lisboa pays homage to the rich history of the Portuguese capital.

Conceived by the company's in-house design team, Mama Design Studio, the authentic style that decorates the walls, floors and ceilings of Mama Lisboa is a fun mix of pop culture, bohemian style and Portuguese maritime heritage.

From the Viúva Lamego tiles on the façade, to the blue wave rug on the bedroom floors, Mama Lisboa has been designed to create a warm space that will pamper travelers while evoking the free spirit with the fresh and salty air of the nearby Tagus River.

A Portuguese reinterpretation of a French brasserie, Mama Lisboa Restaurant offers diners a menu that blends tasty Portuguese classics, French specialties and classic Mama signature dishes.

In addition to the restaurant, the new space will feature a pizzeria serving the famous Mama pizzas, which will also be available for take-out for the first time. There is also a large bar counter, made of local marble, which will serve exquisite cocktails, Portuguese coffee specialties, freshly squeezed juices and smoothies.

Food and drinks can be enjoyed inside in a lively atmosphere that combines modern pop decor with beautiful elements of Portuguese heritage: tiled columns, capitals decorated with ceramic fish by Bordallo Pinheiro, pendant lamps in the shape of fish; or outdoors, in a patio painted in green, white and terracotta where you can enjoy the Lisbon sun and enjoy an outstanding gastronomic experience.

Mama Lisboa is the ideal place to watch the sunset. With a breathtaking view of Lisbon and the Tagus River, the hotel's rooftop is the place to be to watch the golden sunset over the city's skyline.

The rooftop, open from morning until late at night, will have a kitchen, a briquette bar, a DJ station and different areas to sit, rest and relax. Both at night and during the day, under the luminous garlands or the blue Lisbon sky, Mama Lisboa's rooftop invites its clients to create unforgettable memories.

Spread over nine floors, the 130 rooms at Mama Lisboa have been designed by Mama Design Studio to provide a welcoming atmosphere. With open bathrooms and a Portuguese tile-inspired rug that covers the entire floor, the colorful rooms hark back to Portugal's rich history.

Authentic materials used range from table tops made from recycled bottle caps produced in Portugal, cork-framed smart TVs (one of southern Portugal's treasures), Portuguese straw lampshades, and decorative Bordallo artwork Pinheiro.

Rooms also feature free Wi-Fi, new plastic-free and organic products, a TV with a wide selection of bonus movies (including adult movies).

‘Mama Lisboa is a synthesis of the dazzling light of the city, of the energy and ease that reign here, of the modernity and creativity of its inhabitants. It will be hard to want to get out here to venture out and experience the magic of this city, but it will be worth it', explains Serge Trigano, co-founder of Mama Shelter.

Cédric Gobilliard, CEO of Mama Shelter, adds that 'Mama Shelter is not a hotel, but a place of life that contributes to local economic dynamism. Mama is, above all, a meeting point where locals mingle with travelers or businessmen, and vice versa! At Mama, life is a constant hustle and bustle from morning to night. Our offer allows you to stay in our hotels at any time and make the most of each space.

Mama also considers the needs of businessmen and women. In the adjoining building (Rua do Vale de Pereiro, 26), Mama Lisboa will have its own Atelier: a meeting space with capacity for 25 people, equipped with a 50" screen, broadband connection and a comprehensive service, restaurant , drinks and even a bathroom.

For those who love shopping, Mama Lisboa offers a wide range of options for sale at Mama Shop, such as beauty items, clothing, sex toys, candles, home fragrances and much more. They are also available at the online store mamalovesyou.com.
