The municipal government will reduce to zero the occupancy rate of public roads with tables and nightstands corresponding to the year 2021, thanks to a demand presented by the Ciudadanos (Cs) formation and that resulted in a commitment by the consistory to abide by Said proposal: "A modification of ordinances has been approved, and one of them corresponded to the tax on terraces and nightstands, the result of a motion presented by Ciudadanos in November 2020 and the 2021 budget agreement that we signed with the government of our city ”says José Antonio Luelmo, spokesman for the formation of Citizens (Cs) in our city.

Luelmo stresses that this point was "one of the most important" for the party he leads, since it means "that hoteliers have this 100% bonus." The measure, retroactive to January 1, will mean a aid of 500,000 euros for hoteliers, who will be exempt from paying the tax corresponding to this year: "they will not have to pay anything for the installation of terraces", explains the spokesman, who adds that this initiative was easy to apply because "it was not It supposes a particularly large economic effort for the City Council”. The catering establishments will not have to pay any payment for the annual renewal of the authorization related to the installation of tables and nightstands.

The Liberal spokesperson has announced that Ciudadanos (Cs) "will return to the charge if economic recovery does not take place, betting and working so that this exemption from payment is also maintained for the 2022 financial year."

The other proposals presented by Cs did not prosper in plenary session

From the political formation they have shown their discomfort, however, due to the fact that the rest of the amendments contained in the battery that they proposed for the ordinances of 2022, aimed at “lowering taxes and favoring job creation”, have not been approved during the plenary session of the City Council. Luelmo has exposed that the proposal related to eliminating the tax on terraces and nightstands “was the only one, of those presented by PSOE and Podemos that could help families, the self-employed and businessmen of our town; the rest were adaptations to the regulations, adhering to the reports of the municipal technicians”.

He assures, on the other hand, that the party suggested bonuses in the IBI for large families under the general regime and to equalize the bonus for photovoltaic installations for self-consumption by locals and individuals, “after the increases in the price of electricity that we are living, with records every day, we proposed a 50% discount for homes, whether single-family or not, that install thermal systems for self-consumption”. Luelmo has referred, in the same way, to the tax rate of the Property Tax, arguing that "it is at 0.60, when there are municipalities like Getafe, which have it at 0.41, or Alcorcón at 0.45, or Fuenlabrada at 0.42; We asked for 0.58, but that request has not come out either, which we understand could be achieved by adopting compensatory measures, and also the lowering of the tax rate could be recovered by applying the remaining treasury that the City Council has, which is 56 million euros ” .
