She made her runway debut at the age of 17 for one of the greats: Yves Saint Laurent. Three years later, this model from La Vega, discovered by the critical eye of Sandro Guzmán, for Ossygeno Models Management, lives in New York, poses for the heavyweights of the fashion world and is on the Hot List of the prestigious Models website. .com. In this interview, he tells us about his life between castings and castings and all the dreams that remain to be fulfilled.

How and when did the idea of modeling start? Was it always your childhood dream? No, it was never my dream nor did I think about being a model, that never crossed my mind and it was the last thing in my plans. Actually I was discovered at the age of 13, but I didn't start in this world until I was 16. My dream was to study, I liked architecture or real estate, actually that was what I had in mind for my future.

Describe yourself in three words to someone who doesn't know you...Simple, kind-hearted and helpful.

What is a normal day in the life of Anyelina in NY like? If I don't have work I like to go for a walk or go to the gym. When I work I follow a very basic routine, I go to the casting, photo session, or whatever I have that day, and when I finish I go straight back home to have dinner and sleep, because I never know what awaits me the next day.

You made your debut with Yves Saint Laurent, how do you remember that moment now? When I did that show, I imagine it was a result of nerves, at that moment I was not aware of how important it was, but when I look back on it I understand that it was a very big achievement. All kinds of emotions went through my head, I was nervous but I enjoyed it, it was a magical moment walking in front of so many people.

Which is the most impressive setting on which you have walked? I would say that same one, my first show with Yves Saint Laurent, which was also my debut in Paris, and it took place in a wonderful museum in the French capital in February 2018.

You have worked with many of the heavyweights of fashion, what is the main lesson you have learned by their side? Do not humiliate the other for being new. I have always received very nice treatment from them, so I always try to behave like this in my work with everyone.

The most memorable moment (so far) of your modeling career? A campaign I did for Zara, was a summer collection that was shot in New York with the master of the lens, Steven Meisel. Along with Lineisy and Hiandra, we are the only Dominicans photographed by this great artist.

A difficult time? A complicated session... a casting that didn't happen... a campaign that didn't come out... For me, the most difficult moment of my career so far has been when I had to leave the country alone, but with the castings always I have understood that not everything can be given and I always take them very relaxed, I am not mortified if they do not choose me, because I know that where God did not put there cannot be.

Which campaign, brand or designer have you felt most comfortable with and identified with their style? With many, but of the works I've done I've always felt super good with Dior, I like their style because they not only have the elegant clothes that we all know, also some sport collections that I love.

Which designers and photographers would you like to work with, or any magazine that you would like to be on the cover of? I would love to be on the cover of Vogue México or any of its editions, because until now I have only been on its inside pages.

What are your beauty routines to take care of the skin? Skin is based a lot on food, so in that sense I take great care of myself, and I have never liked to consume a lot of fat. In addition, I clean myself from time to time; I never stop using sunscreen and clean my face with a special soap before bed.

If you had to choose one beauty tip to give your best friend, what would it be? Leave your hair natural.

You've made your hairstyle your hallmark, how do your braids become your ID? When I started modeling I needed my natural hair, so I started a process to let all the chemicals out of my hair and I found I love this look and I find it super comfortable. I usually look for someone to do it for me because I can't do it myself.

What do you do to keep fit? I really like going to the gym when I'm not traveling or working, I would say it's my hobby, plus I eat very healthy. I like to do cardio, run, ride a bike and above all do sit-ups.

How do you recharge your batteries after a hard day at work? It depends on the day I've had, if I have energy left I call my friends and we go out for a walk; If I arrive tired, I stay at home watching a Netflix series. The last one I've seen is “Who killed Sara?”

What are your hobbies ? What do you like to do when you're not modeling? Especially walking, going to the parks and playing volleyball (if I find someone).

What Dominican food do you crave when you're not in the country? Sancocho with white rice and concón.

You spend your day wearing couture and designer clothes, but how do you really like to dress? What is your style? Super light and relaxed, with oversized clothes and tennis shoes, a style very contrary to what I spend the day wearing for my work.

If we open your closet, what is the predominant color and the piece that we will find the most? Many black t-shirts, jeans and tennis shoes.

The best thing the fashion world has given you is... Being able to fulfill my dream of giving my mom a house.

If you could go back in time, would you choose the modeling profession again?Of course, because through modeling I have achieved many things, for which I thank my manager and God, I have traveled to other countries, met many interesting people and I have been able to make many friends.

Have you experienced any dark episodes as a model? No, I've been lucky.

Do you have plans for when you say goodbye to modeling? I want to establish myself financially to have a good quality of life, and I like to invest in buying land and apartments as an investment, so that's where my initial dream will come true.

What projects do you have on your agenda right now? In this profession you never know what you'll do the next day, it's crazy. At the moment I'm flying to New York now and I know I have a job waiting, but they haven't given me all the details yet.
