Men's watches are, beyond a useful tool, a symbol of status and style wherever we go. There are different shapes, very different materials, varied technologies and distinctive designs. Technically, there is one for every type of man in this world. And of course smartwatches are part of this great universe; however, there comes a time when these do not meet either the personality or the power to complement our most distinguished looks. Of course they are wonderful and necessary, but let's face it: they make much more sense while we are doing our exercise routines, than when we want to wear a really impressive suit to a business dinner.

How did we men come to this cult of watches? That we begin to marvel at their machinery and endow them with so much energy, when we want to look sophisticated and truly attractive (?). Let's review the past a bit.

It was not until the outbreak of World War I that the wristwatch began to be thought of as a true accessory for gentlemen; very shortly before, this was exclusively for women. However, in the middle of the battle the soldiers discovered that they did not have time to search for a pocket watch and that is how the first models for men were born. After the war, this new way of wearing a watch came into common use—for obvious reasons—although this initially caused people to dismiss this as ridiculous or a silly trend. Eventually, time passed and men's wristwatches became the norm.

Today, pocket watches are practically obsolete; That's how great this "extravagant" or "ridiculous" use was. And many would say the same about the classic wristbands compared to the possibility of having a smart or enjoying all the benefits of having a phone in your pocket. However, this could never compare and we're about to give you five great reasons to take notice and implement it.

Finding your phone inside your pants, checking the time and returning it to its place is very cumbersome. On the other hand, a quick glance at your wrist is a much more elegant way to see the time during a date or meeting. Which, by the way, you can do in a discreet and subtle way; otherwise, it might seem like you need to get out of the place where you are. If you opt for a luxury or classic watch, even if it is a series watch, you should know that what you have on your wrist is a symbol of tradition and history turned into a masterpiece. An object of extreme craftsmanship. We do not want to be exaggerated, but it is very likely that you carry a work of art with you; some watch houses have four craftsmen working on a single watch for several months, creating complex pieces of mechanical technology by hand. There are brands that have a craftsman working on a specific piece for a whole year. What would you call that if not craft greatness?

They become relic and legacy

One of the best reasons to wear a watch is to follow a tradition. Did you inherit a watch from your father, your grandfather or a friend? The watches are also a legacy; and no, they don't necessarily have to be worth a small fortune —or a large one— to be truly valuable. It is enough that they transmit a moment, a memory or the values ​​that were important for your family or for you to another person.
