Comments1They say that the Camino de Santiago is a source of inspiration. José Manuel Pérez and Javier Luceño are the clear example that the best ideas emerge during their stages. It happened to them two summers ago, when it occurred to them to launch Scallop Way, their menswear firm. While they were carrying out this adventure, they realized that there was no type of business there to buy clothes to clean up a bit. And from there came the idea of creating a men's fashion brand with shirts as the main protagonists. Since then, they have dedicated a large part of their time to Scallop Way, a brand that, according to Javier, “was first born as a hobby, it went well and we are now working very hard every day, with quality and taste first”.
The passion that these two young people have for the Camino de Santiago is very present in each garment. First by the chosen name. Scallop can be translated as scallop, the shell that symbolizes the path, the journey that pilgrims make. And Way means path. But not only the brand has a special name. Javier and José Manuel name their garments with the names of towns they have known during the years they have been traveling to Galicia or the names of people they have met on their adventures during this time. It is a way of reflecting the affection they have for the Camino de Santiago and the importance it has in their lives. Iruña, Portomarín or Belorado are some of the names that are present.
Shirts are the hallmark of this firm, but they also have other garments such as polo shirts, t-shirts or sweatshirts and for the next autumn-winter season they will launch a line of cardigans, sweaters and cardigans. A clear sign that Scallop Way does not stop growing. Regarding the line of shirts, the wide variety of colors, the striped and plain prints and the quality of the fabrics stand out. These are perfect linen shirts to wear at different times of the year, both for day to day and for more special events. Their polo shirts, t-shirts and sweatshirts are perfect for men who want to achieve a casual look that makes a difference. If there is one thing that characterizes Scallop Way garments, it is that they are branded in Spain. Javier says that "although it involves a little more cost, from the first moment we wanted the design, manufacturing and fabrics to be made in Spain."
Something that José Manuel and Javier have done very well is adapting to new technologies, something fundamental in the fashion sector. They began by selling clothes to their family and friends and organizing showrooms so that customers could see their clothes first hand. But now most of their sales are made through their online store, where they take care of their image down to the smallest detail. “We contacted a friend who has a digital marketing agency and it opened our minds a lot. Since then we have taken great care of our website and social networks (@scallop_way), where we like to show our products, as well as teach our philosophy of life”. A philosophy of life that is characterized by absolute respect for nature and the importance of relationships between people.
The last step of Scallop Way has been to open its first physical point of sale in the Libélula Shop space, in the center of Seville. In this way, this firm that the two Sevillian friends launched between Santiago and Finisterre is becoming one of the references in the men's fashion sector thanks to its quality, its beautiful philosophy and its adaptation to changing times.
