The famous fashion brand Oscar de la Renta announced that it will no longer use animal skin in its products and, with this, joins the different houses that reject animal abuse such as Stella McCartney, Calvin Klein, Armani, Tommy Hilfiger and Gucci
The brand created by the late Dominican designer Oscar de la Renta announced that as of October 2021 it will no longer offer any products made from animal skin.
“ Oscar de la Renta does not use fur in its fashion collections and does not sell it in its stores, and will not do so in the future… When the “sell off” license period ends, Oscar de la Renta will not offer any new product made of leather," he said in a statement.

Likewise, the fashion house was criticized in 2017 by PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), since on its website they detailed that one of their shoes was made with elephant skin. Given this, the brand explained that it was a mistake and clarified that "We have not used and will never use elephant skin."
“They have admitted that they made a mistake, as the shoes are not elephant skin but elaphe, a type of snake. Whether it's an elephant or a snake, no animal should suffer for the sake of fashion," the director of PETA revealed to El País at the time.
