AFP.- Nike decided to stop selling its clothing and tennis shoes directly on the Amazon platform, thereby interrupting an agreement closed in 2017 with the US internet commerce giant, the clothing manufacturer announced Sports this Wednesday.
“As part of Nike's efforts to improve the consumer experience through direct and personal relationships, we have decided to end our pilot experience with Amazon Retail,” said a company official.
The brand specified, however, that it will continue to use Amazon for the storage of its online data and various Internet services.

After declining that option for years, Nike agreed in June 2017 to offer its products directly on Amazon.com to face declining sales and competition from Adidas and Under Armour.
The agreement with Amazon implied that the latter would remove imitation products from its platform and no longer accept sales of the sports brand's items through intermediaries.
Nike's announcement comes less than a month after the nomination of John Donahoe as CEO, who will replace Mark Parker at the company's helm in early 2020.
