Virgil Abloh, known worldwide for founding the Off-White brand being in charge of Louis Vuitton's men's collections, died at the age of 41 this Sunday due to cancer that he had suffered for some years.
His death was confirmed by the French group LVMH. “We are all shocked by this terrible news. Virgil was not only a genius designer, a visionary, he was also a man with a beautiful soul and great wisdom,” said LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault.

“The LVMH family joins me in this moment of great sorrow, and we are all thinking of their loved ones after the death of their husband, their father, their brother or their friend”, It can be read in the statement that was disseminated through their social networks.
For more than two years, Virgil bravely fought a rare and aggressive form of cancer, cardiac angiosarcoma. He chose to endure his battle in private since his diagnosis in 2019, undergoing numerous challenging treatments, while running several major institutions spanning fashion, art, and culture.
Virgil was driven by his dedication to his craft and his mission to open doors for others and create paths for greater equality in art and design. He often said: "Everything I do is for the 17-year-old version of myself, believing deeply in the power of art to inspire future generations."
Virgil Abloh was born in the 1980s on the outskirts of Chicago, the city to which his parents immigrated. There he grew up surrounded by urban culture, skate and hip-hop. He trained in a Catholic school and went to the University of Wisconsin to study Civil Engineering. While studying for a master's degree in architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology, he met Kanye West, his future partner. Her first experience in the fashion industry was at Fendi.
