Four people have been arrested and five records have been carried out where the investigators intervened more than 4,000 garments of various well-known brands

Agents of the National Police have dismantled a criminal organization in Jaén that was allegedly dedicated to the counterfeiting and subsequent sale of clothing from prestigious brands. Those arrested allegedly had an extensive infrastructure in which they supposedly falsified garments previously acquired at low cost and of no quality, to later sell them wholesale.

In the police operation, four people have been arrested, three Spanish and one of Chinese origin. In addition, five searches have been carried out in which more than 4,000 garments of various well-known brands, a large number of tools for counterfeiting, four heat-sealing machines, two mobile phones, two computers and a label printer were seized.

THE ORIGIN

According to the Police in a statement, the investigation began with a control, inspection and prosecution of crimes against industrial property. They detected especially in the markets of the province, the sale of all kinds of counterfeit garments of highly prestigious brands among buyers. The garments were offered at a lower price than the original ones, imitating them.

To do this, logos, labels and packaging were used that were practically identical to the originals, however, the garments used for the alleged counterfeiting were poor in quality, having been purchased by those arrested presumably at a very low cost.

After different investigations, the agents focused their investigations on two of those arrested: father and son. Apparently they had been engaged in this criminal activity for years. To do this, they had supposedly set up a complete infrastructure made up of several buildings dedicated to the different phases of counterfeiting.

In a home were the computers, printers and the necessary material for the elaboration of the labels. In a second building, they counterfeited the garments by heat-sealing the different brand logos, a third building was used as a warehouse, and the fourth building was used as an exhibition and place where sales were made, always wholesale.

Those arrested presumably acquired clothing without any brand name and at a low cost, as well as the necessary accessories for counterfeiting on the black market; serigraphy elements, labels and remains of accessories. In the same way, they took over the necessary machines for stamping fake brands and logos. Once the entire process was completed, they were put up for sale on a large scale, mainly in markets.

However, the investigation was not concluded. The investigators, once the alleged perpetrators of the forgeries were identified, focused their work on the other two arrested. These allegedly were responsible for the sale and distribution of counterfeits, reaching a commercial establishment open to the public, where the investigators made the last and fifth search.
