A problem in the left shoulder will prevent Carlos Ortiz from defending the title he got last year at the PGA Houston Open, because he will not play in everything that remains of 2021 on medical recommendations.
The Mexican golfer lamented not being able to travel to Houston to defend his crown, which represented an important achievement for his career, to rise as the first Mexican in more than 40 years to conquer a title endorsed by the PGA circuit.
"It is something incredibly disappointing for me.I was anxious to be able to defend my first PGA Tour title. It's hard, but we'll return. The truth is that I feel honored to be the champion of this event and I have the confidence to return next year, "said Carlos Ortiz.
This is a problem that has been dragging for a few weeks, which made him retire from the Japan Championship Zozo, although he did activity last weekend at the Mayakoba Golf Classic, being in Mexico, ending in second place.
The bad news is that he resented the discomfort in the shoulder and by medical indications will have no more activity in the remainder of the year, so the Houston Open will be played without the current champion.
