Madrid – The popular Hawaiian singer and songwriter Bruno Mars, following in the footsteps of a good number of artists and well-known characters such as Beyoncé, Rihanna, Zendaya or the Canadian rapper Drake, has finally decided to venture into in the world of fashion and lifestyle. A new field that will allow him to develop a new facet of his creative profile, and for which he has decided to make a "match" with none other than the famous fashion firm Lacoste. House for which he has just designed a complete collection of ready-to-wear garments, the first installment of the new line that he has created together with the well-known French firm.
Under the name of “Lacoste x Ricky Regal”, alter ego that the singer has decided to adopt in view of the performance of this new facet of his as a designer, the collection will hit the market, in the case of Spain, this coming March 5, 2021 Moment in which it will be launched through a pre-sale, exclusively, in the online store and in the establishment that the Sivasdescalzo concept store has in Barcelona. From where it will finally become available, as of March 8, both in the Lacoste online store and in the one the firm has on Calle Serrano in Madrid.
“When I'm onstage, my name is Bruno Mars,” but “when I do flashy clothes, my name is Ricky Regal,” the singer tries to explain. "I am very lucky to have received requests for collaboration in the past, but they always came with set guidelines," adds Mars through a statement released from Lacoste. A firm that "has been the first and only brand that has told me: 'Bruno, you can do whatever you want,'" confesses the singer. Who does not hesitate to remark how “the respect of such creative freedom coming from a fashion house with a long tradition was an honor”.

“Collaborating with Bruno and delving into his unique world has been an exciting adventure”, adds Louise Trotter, creative director of Lacoste and promoter of this collaboration with the singer, whom she had the opportunity to meet in Los Angeles during a meeting which served as the initial germ of the collection. “He has a very clear vision of what he wants and is obsessed with every detail,” explains Trotter. “From concept to fitting the garments,” he stresses, “there wasn't a single aspect that I wasn't fully involved in.”
With Mars interpreting his alter ego “Ricky Regal” and with the Lacoste crocodile as the brand's identifying symbol, we will thus come across a complete collection made up of garments the categories of fashion, footwear and accessories.
Built on a chromatic palette formed by an impressive combination of shades in mustard yellow, petrol green, aubergine violet, coral red and tie-dye prints, the collection is made up of a wide succession of garments among which we will find flowing shirts, tracksuits, shorts, polo shirts, t-shirts, pants, flip-flops, socks or iconic aviator-style sunglasses. Pieces all of them made in a wide range of fabrics, among which the presence of cotton, silk and leafy velvets stand out.
“With Ricky Regal x Lacoste,” Trotter describes, “Bruno has created a luxury sportswear brand” capable of marrying “Lacoste's sporting heritage with his own seductive style.”
