The fever for martial arts continues to grow thanks to the series and movies that take them as protagonists. And if karate is (now) to Cobra Kai, the panda bear Po is to kung fu.
This January 24, fans of the DreamWorks Animation film will be able to celebrate in style by dressing in style with Reebok, which this year launched a capsule collection inspired by the adventures of the protagonist of the iconic cartoon franchise.
Together with Universal Brand Development, the sports brand has prepared a line of clothing (sweatshirts and t-shirts) and footwear for the whole family that reflects the lessons that accompanied the hero in his adventures until he managed to become the Dragon Warrior.
The sneaker collection is based on iconic Reebok silhouettes, such as the Instapump Fury and the Club C, but endowed with elements that clearly scream their reference to the film. And if you haven't seen it, don't worry, because here we explain the three key pieces.
Its elements represent Po's transformation into the Dragon Warrior. Its suede upper features a graphic of the mythical animal, the fabric Pump is shaped like noodles (a dish with an important presence in the film) and the heel pulls refer to the protagonist's iconic shorts with patches. The shoe's collar lining resembles the main hero's belt, and the insoles feature fortune cookie designs, reminding us of the lessons Po learned throughout his journey. The outsole shell has a bamboo finish and the number graphics on the heels are the years the Kung Fu Panda movies were released.
The colors present in this model are not fortuitous, they are related to the costumes of the six Kung Fu masters: the tip, Crane's pants; the front part, Po's fur; the crosscheck is reminiscent of Tigress's kimono and the heel of Po's pants; the buttonholes symbolize the ribbons that the masters wear on their feet; the tongue is the exoskeleton of Mantis; the heel is Monkey's fur and the window tag, the cuffs he wears on his wrists; the straps on the heel are Viper's scales and the lining of the shoe's collar is Po's belt. The look is completed with the Reebok Kanji logo on the heel.
It is the most subtle design of the three, both in color and structure. Its details celebrate the ideologies and mentalities that distinguish each of the seven masters of Kung Fu.
HOW DOES THE WORLD'S FIRST INTELLIGENT PERFUME SMELL AND WORK?
The sneakers come wrapped in tissue paper printed with a restaurant menu (a nod to Po's job as an apprentice in his father's noodle shop) and inside Lunar New Year-inspired packaging, with a red top (same as the envelopes that are exchanged during those festivities) and base with graphics with the main themes of the Kung Fu Panda franchise.
The collection will be available on the Reebok page from January 22.
