ABOUT THE PRODUCTION
CAPTIVATED FANS
The unlikely beginnings of Paul W.S. Anderson from the Resident Evil video game saga seem like a story straight out of a movie. Producer Jeremy Bolt, who has collaborated with Anderson for 25 years and has been involved in every installment of the series, recalls: “Back in 2002, I went back to England and made a couple of small movies, while Paul holed up in his house in Venice. Beach, where he spent a month playing video games. Suddenly, he called me and said: 'I've been playing a game called 'Resident Evil', we have to get the film rights.
Since then, Resident Evil has grown to become the most successful film adaptation of a video game in movie history, with its first five installments grossing more than $1 billion worldwide and consistently ranking at the top of the global charts. number one at the box office on its opening weekend. The saga has excited both fans of the original Capcom video game and fans of action and science fiction movies, and has managed to amass a community of millions of unconditional fans over the years and carve out a reputation of its own throughout the years. of 14 years in which it has captivated viewers with groundbreaking action and an ever-new approach to the sci-fi action genre. Bolt thinks about the global success of the series: “I think it's the combination of style, action and horror. It's not pure horror and it's not a traditional zombie movie. It has a fantastical, sci-fi element to it. I think when Paul introduced the character of Alice (Milla Jovovich), he made her stand out from the game, so when you go to see these movies, you don't have to be a fan of the games to enjoy them, you have something extra, which is Alice's character. I think we have a good villain thanks to the evil and all-powerful Umbrella Corporation, which is extremely close in the modern world we live in."
Jovovich shares his thoughts on why viewers have been so enthralled with Resident Evil: “I like to believe that people respond to passion, sincerity and fun. When we started, we didn't expect that 'Resident Evil' movie to become a franchise, we did it because we loved the video game. Each new installment has become a job done with passion and fun, which has allowed us to get to know this crazy and amazing world of science fiction better and better. Everyone involved has a truly phenomenal time doing it. I think viewers respond positively to that enthusiasm and that energy."
Australian actress Ruby Rose, who plays the role of Abigail in THE FINAL CHAPTER, explains: “One of the things I love about Resident Evil is that I think Hollywood is often itching to see a female lead who is capable of give cane, without always depending on a man; one that is not there as a simple superhero sidekick, that is, the wife of the male protagonist. It has to be a female role and there aren't many of those, so you scratch your head trying to find one, until you realize it's been there all along. Milla has been doing this for many years now, and she is very similar to her character, in real life she is an independent, strong and inspiring woman, and I think that has to be one of the main reasons why people love this franchise. And also, of course, it's apocalyptic, it's full of zombies, and it's based on a very popular video game series. Plus, each of the movies adds another country, so it's become a global phenomenon."
In a movie world that is saturated with male leads in action films, Jovovich believes Alice exemplifies a strong action heroine who can hold her own in any situation. "I think Alice has inspired a lot of young women to be themselves, to go after what they want and not be afraid of who they are."
“Milla is a very intense actress and can convey focused rage very well,” says Bolt, “she's a very physical performer, with tremendous on-camera charisma, and the camera loves her. She fills the screen with her personality. It has everything you want from the first moment, it is magnetic”.
“What I interpret on the screen, many women experience daily in real life. When I see that, from fans who come and tell me how much this character or film means to them, and how it helped them at a crucial moment in their lives, whether it was with their school, their family, their boyfriend or their country, I It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it, because it's wonderful to think that I've had something to do with the positive growth of these young people in their lives,” explains Jovovich.
THE LAST SURVIVORS: THE CHARACTERS
In THE FINAL CHAPTER, Alice returns to the iconic origins of the T-Virus in Raccoon City, where she will attempt to stop the infection once and for all. After a crushing defeat in Washington D.C. and the loss of his personal army in "Resident Evil: Vengeance," he gets one last chance to save humanity from the last step of the Umbrella Corporation's plan.
When Alice arrives in Raccoon City, she makes contact with a new group of survivors, one of the last holdouts from the zombie apocalypse. Among those new survivors is one of the most popular characters in the saga, Claire Redfield (Ali Larter). “Claire was in an accident and now she has become part of that last group of survivors. Then Alice shows up and you can't believe he's reunited with her," Larter adds, adding that her character has been fighting for her life since the third installment of the series, "Resident Evil 3: Extinction." “My character has undergone a great personal evolution throughout the series, and I found that very interesting. She wants very much to believe, she wants to connect, she wants to be able to feel something, but there is never time, because she is constantly persecuted.
Attaching Claire is a new addition to the series, Eoin Macken as Doc. Macken explains of his character: “Doc is the leader of a small group of rebellious survivors, surviving near Raccoon City. He is romantically involved with Claire Redfield and what is essential to them is survival. It's all very delicately balanced, because basically it's the end of the world and everyone is very aggressive and stressed. When Milla's character appears, she manages to survive thanks to Doc and Claire."
“Razor” (Fraser James) is Doc's right-hand man, working with him at the survivors' compound. “Razor is a simple guy,” explains James, “he's in this crazy world of nuclear war and its aftermath, and it's a desolate landscape. Razor is a survivor, but you have to be a survivor if you're still alive after all that. And he finds himself becoming Doc's right-hand man."
In addition to the obvious danger from the Umbrella Corporation and the mutant creatures that surround them, there is also some infighting among the survivors. James explains that the most important thing for Michael in terms of his relationship with Doc is keeping him alive, “because there are internal conflicts in the group and there is a danger that something could happen that is not good for him. It's a very important relationship in the film."
The ensemble cast has brought back some old favorites, along with new additions. Specifically, Macken thinks it's an extraordinarily diverse cast: “It's been fun, because we're a group of actors from all over the world, like Cuba, Japan, Ireland and England, Canada, Ukraine, Russia, the United States, everywhere. . Everyone adds to the good atmosphere and then Paul and Jeremy bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm."
Cuban-American actor William Levy joins the Resident Evil family as Christian, one of the combative survivors in Doc's group. Levy comments on what drew him to the project: “The story is always going to reach different viewers, and I didn't even have to think twice about being part of something as incredible as Resident Evil. I've seen all the previous movies, I saw how good they were, and as soon as I read the script for THE FINAL CHAPTER, I knew it was going to be even better, in every way. I needed to participate in this." Levy describes her character: “She has a very strong personality, she doesn't trust anyone. Shoot first and ask questions later. He is willing to do whatever it takes to save the survivors, to save them all, even sacrificing his own life."
On the Other Side of the Wall, Wesker (Shawn Roberts) returns to the series as head of the Umbrella Corporation and main antagonist. “Wesker is always fighting to control the world and get rid of humanity, which looks like it's going to destroy the planet, and he's always fighting to achieve that goal. He's a very cool, calm, cool, controlled guy,” Roberts explains, “you know everything is in chaos, but that's kind of the great constant in that world. He is a neat and meticulous gentleman, at the same time that he is capable of distributing firewood. And that's cool too!"
Together with the production team, Roberts put special effort into faithfully capturing the iconic video game character. “Every time we do this, it's always a new adventure. We have spent a lot of time creating and polishing the look, to make sure everything fits as it should and the hair is 'as it should'. When fans see the movie, they are not disappointed. It helps to get into character. Wesker is one of my favorite characters, so I love him!"
Alonging Wesker is another true villain, Dr. Isaacs, played by Iain Glen, who returns to the franchise after his last appearance in "Resident Evil 3: Extinction." Glen explains why Dr. Isaacs has been such a popular villain on the series: “We like to hate a well-written villain. He is very sophisticated, has everything under control and is very resourceful in his evil way of being. There's so much medical and scientific stuff going on that he's also given himself superpowers, so he's also formidable in the physical realm. Isaacs is a character very well drawn by Paul, who has written some wonderful scenes for me; I have loved playing the part in this film and it will hold a few surprises along the way.”
As another head of the sinister Umbrella Corporation, Dr. Isaacs must confront Alice in his quest to put an end to the company's radical plans for world domination. “He is an insane egomaniac, who wants to conquer and rule the entire planet, because Alice is one of his most sophisticated and genius creations, but his plan has gone awry because she has goodness and wants to fix the situation, something that was not contemplated in its creation”.
Another new addition to the series is Australian actress Ruby Rose, who confesses that she would have gotten better grades in school if she had spent less time playing the Resident Evil games. “I was a huge fan of gaming, and after playing it for four years – a good part of my life – I tried to ‘return’ to school.” When Rose learned that THE FINAL CHAPTER was the final installment and her last chance to take part in the series, she jumped at the chance.
Because the character of Abigail, who is among the small group of survivors, is new to the series, Rose says she wanted to create a very elaborate past for Abigail. “For her to still be alive when so many other people aren't, and for her to more or less control where she is, she would have to be a fighter, very strong and very smart. She's very good with her hands, she's kind of like the mechanic of the group, and she makes a lot of cool weapons, but I thought I'd like to be able to go on set and contribute more than just the lines I was given. My idea about her past was to involve her family, what happened to them, what led her to where she is and where she has gotten the strength to survive all of that."
South Korean actor and musician Lee Joon-Gi plays “Commander Lee”, one of the henchmen of the Umbrella Corporation. “Commander Lee has a lot of faith in himself and is a skilled warrior. He is very strong, not only physically, but also mentally," Lee says.
As an established dramatic actor, Lee had to undergo intense training and physical preparation to play his action villain. “I realized that Paul had seen a lot of my previous movies, dramas, and work, because he understands my action roles and scenes. I had two or three days before the preparation with the stunt team in Hollywood and they were very receptive to my ideas for the action choreography. It has been great and a lot of fun to have this great opportunity and I am excited”.
AN EPIC ENDING
Given the extraordinary success of the five Resident Evil installments produced to date, with RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER the project team needs to find something that sets it apart, find an exceptional new perspective, unexplored until now and, if possible even, raise the bar and offer viewers a spectacular end to the saga.
Producer Jeremy Bolt comments: “Fans will find a more vulnerable, more human Alice, and a more desperate, more distraught world. The characters can't take it anymore, which gives us the feeling that humanity is about to lose to the T-Virus and the Umbrella Corporation."
Bolt describes how the team responsible for the project has been improving the bill of each new installment by trying to find a new environment for each film. “The first movie was shot in Germany and took place mostly underground, the second was shot in Toronto, with eight weeks of nighttime locations, and the third was shot in Mexico, kind of like a desert road movie. The fourth movie was shot in Los Angeles, and the fifth was shot entirely on sets, it was kind of fantastic. One of the things that Paul and I try to offer fans is that when they see the first trailer, they have to feel like it's a Resident Evil that they haven't seen before. I think franchises fall apart when viewers see the sequel trailer and think, 'Oh, that reminds me of the last one, I feel like I've seen that movie already. You have to try to be original, while striving to offer something that is familiar to them”, Ali Larter comments: “It is incredible that this is going to be the 'final chapter' and I think it will be the rawest. Viewers will notice a distinct connection between the characters and feel true humanity."
Eoin Macken believes it's the intense writing in the last chapter that will make the last film the most epic. “He ties up all the last strands of the story and doesn't give a moment's respite. The action is fast-paced and everything is grander. And then there is a glorious ending with which you will understand everything. For the character of Alice, it's a tremendous story arc and it's exciting."
Fraser James agrees: “I think Paul, Jeremy and Milla really shined in this installment. The sets they have built to set the stage for the epic plot are monumental, the action is extraordinary and the cast of actors they have brought together from all over the world is fantastic. We have come together and we have become friends as if we were a family”.
“Paul has come full circle in a very clever way, making you understand why it all started. The story comes to an extraordinary conclusion,” says Iain Glen.
Jovovich adds, “I think the fans are going to love this movie because it's everything we wanted, but we hadn't had a chance to do it in the previous six movies and we're finally doing it. There are so many aspects that will be amazing, the incredible sets, the amazing action scenes… it has something for everyone. This film has more or less everything and I am very proud of it”.
UNDEAD AND RESIDENT EVIL WORLD DESIGN
“I hope this movie takes good advantage of the great environments of the previous installments,” says Jeremy Bolt, who divides the world of Resident Evil into three distinct stages. “First, we have desolate Washington D.C., where it almost seems like Alice is the only person left in the world. The second phase is a road movie in which Alice goes to Raccoon City and faces different characters, such as Dr. Isaacs, the Umbrella troops and various undead. The last act of the film highlights the science fiction element, when we find ourselves in the Hive, the secret facility of the Umbrella Corporation.
With THE FINAL CHAPTER, viewers will be treated to one of the most bombastic and polished installments in the Resident Evil series, recreating “the Hive” from the first installment and further completing this post-apocalyptic world. Production designer Edward Thomas stresses that all of his designs were inspired by the video game.
Although RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER is the first installment in the series that Thomas has worked on, the designer admits, “It wasn't until I started to look at the film that I realized how much I've invested in it. used as a reference in the design of many of my films throughout my career”.
“The previous movies were great starting points to reference and there are a lot of nods to the games in them, which I was looking forward to including in this installment as well. It was exciting to know that Paul was going to bring back some of the old classic sets from the show and recreating them has been inspiring.”
With Alice's return to Raccoon City and the Hive, Thomas and his team were challenged to recreate the iconic sets from the original 2002 installment of "Resident Evil." Key sets included the interior control room of the Hive and the huge underground bunker set: the Slaughterhouse. It's great to create something so dirty and cold and wet and go from that to the neat and clean environment that we created for the control room.”
In addition, shooting on location in South Africa gave them the opportunity to use unique sets that served to show the scale of the post-apocalyptic world. “We have some huge exterior sets, like the Johannesburg Bridge building, which is an extraordinary piece of architecture.” The team responsible for the project found a large space in the abandoned Philippi cement factory, located in the Nyanga Municipal District, Cape Town, a densely populated area, which required surveillance by the film crew.
“Our job is really to make sure that we can string all of these places together and make it look good, that viewers believe that when you take them on that journey, those places are really next to each other, when in fact they are. thousands of kilometers away. That's the fun of this movie."
Thomas stresses the importance of respecting the fans when creating this world. “I think the biggest challenge for me on this movie was staying true to the fans and the game. Having worked on other projects like this before, I know what it's like to get fan mail saying, 'You've done an amazing job, we acknowledge this about the game, or the series.' So I think being able to stay true to that and knowing that the fans are going to notice those things in the movie is definitely the biggest challenge, making sure that everything is there."
It wouldn't be a Resident Evil movie without huge hordes of zombies and other types of undead. The series has built a reputation for some of the scariest and most imaginative zombie creations ever brought to the big screen. Prosthetics designer Clinton Aiden-Smith has once again raised the bar with his cutting-edge design and the creation of over 1,500 zombies for the film. As a long-time fan of the video game, Aiden-Smith took his job to heart. “Growing up, the Resident Evil games kept me up many long nights, I was fascinated by zombies. Working on this film has been a great opportunity, I think for everyone who grew up with these games, to relive that experience from their youth."
For the latest installment of Resident Evil, director Paul W.S. Anderson had an updated vision of what these new zombies would look like. Aiden-Smith explains, “Paul wanted a specific look for zombies that have been dead for a while. “They had to go through the process. In addition to being very dusty, we tried to create something slightly different. Alongside the run-of-the-mill zombies is a new breed of bloodthirsty mutant creatures – the most recent of which is the “J’avo” zombie – inspired by the most recent Resident Evil video game. Aiden-Smith describes the process of creating this strange creature: “We had to combine various elements to create the look of this character. A suit, a prosthetic, and dentures, which was pretty hectic, in a way, since his entire cheek was missing and he had a whole series of rows of teeth. So there is also an excellent combination of chemistry, knowing your products very well and how to manipulate them according to your needs.”
“Paul has a very strong stylistic quality, and a very sharp eye, which makes for a film that is not only exciting but also looks great,” says Bolt.
BREAKING ACTION
THE FINAL CHAPTER will introduce viewers to a storyline and take on the franchise unlike anything they've seen before. Featuring the most ambitious action scenes in franchise history, the production team pushed the envelope to pave the way for Alice's epic final battle for humanity.
Stunt coordinator Grant Hulley believes THE FINAL CHAPTER will further the franchise's reputation for mind-bending action. “You don't want the new installment to be the same as the previous one, so we tried to add more live action and combine it with digital and visual effects. I think this installment is rawer and more real."
“We wanted Milla's action scenes to feel more realistic and not go overboard. We didn't want his fights to be repetitive, so we added specific moves and different elements, so it doesn't become just another fight." It was important to the filmmakers to maintain a certain level of realism in the action scenes, while still using visual effects. “The CGI is grounded in reality and we believe that each shot should be 50% real on camera, with possibly 50% digital added later,” explains producer Jeremy Bolt. The use of visual effects serves to hone the fantastic experience on offer and the action-packed scenes Alice and her companions are drawn into.
ALICE'S FINAL FIGHT
Without a doubt, one of the most important assets of the series is its main actress, Milla Jovovich, who reprises her role as 'Alice' for the sixth and final time. Throughout the series, Alice has had to face impossible odds and survive the evil forces of the Umbrella Corporation as humanity's last savior.
Jovovich and his character have become icons of the action and science fiction genre. RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER says goodbye to this character in the most ambitious and spectacular way possible. Through the twists and turns of the film, fans will have the opportunity to learn the conclusion of the story, with the return to the source of the T-Virus. “Shooting the last chapter has been a truly incredible experience, because it has given us the The chance to go back to the beginning, to the Hive, where it all began, and see it in a completely different way," explains Jovovich, adding: "I know that for Paul it's been very exciting, because he's been able to delve much deeper into the original settings and the original story and see what's behind it all. I think it will also be very exciting for the fans, because they will be able to see all the stories, all the questions that the first film raised and that we are going to answer this time.”
Alice has had a very tumultuous trajectory since the start of the series, starting out as an amnesiac in that first installment. “In this movie, Alice is basically done maturing, she's become a very strong warrior. I think, in a lot of the earlier installments, she was looking for herself. In the first, she didn't remember anything, while in the second she was fighting whatever substance she was injected with, what was she turning into, was she a monster, was she human, or what?
Jovovich continues: “That's the theme that ran through the subsequent films, Alice dealing with Umbrella and the medical experiments they put her through. Does she have powers? Or not? How do you control them? She's never been sure who she is as a person and now I think she's finally become whatever she's become. He no longer questions it and no longer doubts. His philosophy is: 'I am who I am! Go to hell if you don't like it!' I like that about her, because I think it's important to be happy with who you are, no matter what. Having that confidence and that strength is inspiring and this time she has truly found herself."
FAMILY FAREWELL
Ali Larter adds, “We're a family, and when you make a movie, we all get really close, but then everyone goes back to their lives. Every time we get back together it seems like no time has passed but this time I have two babies, Milla is here with babies of her own. Everyone has matured together in that sense. The truth is that I find it incredible to be able to talk to her and connect with Milla on that level. I love it! We are working mothers, but we can still deliver firewood, which is something I am very proud of. I am proud of the fact that I am part of this female-led franchise. Milla has been playing Alice for years and has always been that thrown girl. We don't need a man to take care of us and I think that's more relevant than ever."
Speaking of family, Ruby Rose adds: "There's a certain amount of pressure doing the last installment, because it's the last film for Paul and Milla, who created this huge machine together, and to be able to come in and be a part of that last chapter. It's quite an honor, so you really want to do your best. And then you find that everyone is lovely and fun and loving, like one big happy family, which makes all the hard work that much more enjoyable.”
Being an essential part of the creation of the entire film franchise over the course of 15 years has made Resident Evil an intrinsic part of Jovovich's life, both personally and professionally. “Throughout it all, I've met my husband, the father of my children, so it's been a family affair. It's sad, in the sense that we feel very familiar with this story, with this character, the crew and the cast that we've worked with over and over again, it's going to be hard to say goodbye to Alice and the Resident Evil saga." Jovovich points out, adding that for her it is a bittersweet goodbye.

ABOUT THE TEAM
PAUL W.S. ANDERSON (director/producer/screenwriter) has become internationally renowned for his action-packed films and unbridled emotion. Added together, his films have grossed more than $2 billion worldwide, spending several weeks at the top of the box office worldwide, an achievement that places him in a very small group of filmmakers. Anderson turns epic stories into must-see movies, has launched four successful film franchises, and has tackled subjects as diverse as classic literature, science fiction, video game franchises, and historical fiction.
Anderson was born and raised in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, graduated with a BA in Film and Literature from the University of Warwick and continued his studies at Warwick to become the youngest student to earn an MBA.
Paul's first job was the 1994 low-budget hit “Shopping,” which Anderson wrote and directed. Starring Jude Law and Sadie Frost (with an appearance by legendary singer Marianne Faithful), this dark film about young Brits stealing cars for moon landings was once banned in some British cinemas, but served to make the point Anderson's talent for shocking action.
“Shopping” opened the doors of Hollywood for Anderson, and in 1995, “Mortal Kombat” would become the director's first US box office number one. It was also the first successful film adaptation of a video game. The triumph of "Mortal Kombat" served to quickly turn Anderson into the man capable of transferring the game from television to the big screen to make it a success and a subsequent franchise. Anderson turned down offers to make a Mortal Kombat sequel, opting instead to turn his attention to science fiction. His next directorial project was "Final Horizon (Event Horizon)," now considered a cult classic, starring Laurence Fishburne, Sam Neill, Jason Isaacs and Joely Richardson.
Anderson returned to video game adaptation for the big screen with the horror film “Resident Evil” (2002), starring Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez. Anderson wrote, directed and produced the film, which would go on to resounding commercial success and launch Anderson's second blockbuster franchise, which includes the box office number ones "Resident Evil 2: Apocalypse" (2004), "Resident Evil 3 : Extinction” (2007), “Resident Evil: Afterlife” (2010) and “Resident Evil: Vengeance” (2012). Anderson wrote and produced the sequels with his Impact Pictures partner Jeremy Bolt, and would return to direct "Ultragrave" and "Vengeance."
Anderson confirmed his box office success when he wrote and directed the highly anticipated “Alien vs. Predator” (2004), which would launch Anderson's third successful franchise. The film opened at the top of the box office and would end up becoming the installment that has collected the most money in both the "Alien" and "Predator" franchises.
In 2008, Anderson released theatrically “Death Race,” starring Jason Statham and Joan Allen. It was a remake of the 1975 cult classic "Death Race 2000," starring David Carradine and Sylvester Stallone. The film was distributed by Universal Pictures and was produced by Anderson, through Impact Pictures, along with Bolt.
In 2009, Anderson served as a producer on the sci-fi horror film “Pandorum,” starring Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster. Anderson and Bolt produced the project through their Impact Pictures banner.
“Resident Evil: Afterlife,” the fourth installment in the highly successful franchise, would be released in 2010, again starring Milla Jovovich. For its shooting, the Vincent Pace 3D system developed for filming “Avatar” was used. It would become Anderson's first global number one, which would stay at the top of the international box office for an entire month, eventually grossing $300 million worldwide.
Following this unprecedented success in the ever-evolving Resident Evil franchise, Anderson decided to switch labels to direct and produce a stylish, action-packed update of the Alexandre Dumas classic “The Three Musketeers” for Constantin Film and Summit Entertainment. The film was shot again in 3D and had a stellar cast, which included names like Milla Jovovich, Orlando Bloom or Christoph Waltz, while Logan Lerman, Luke Evans, Ray Stephenson and Matthew Macfadyen were in charge of giving life to the charismatic main characters. . The film was released in 2011 and managed to raise 150 million dollars worldwide.
Next, Anderson returned to his highest-grossing franchise to write, produce and direct “Resident Evil: Vengeance,” the highly anticipated fifth installment, mixing familiar and beloved faces with new ones in this clever metamorphosis of the film series. . The film opened in the fall of 2012 and grossed an impressive $240 million worldwide, bringing the Resident Evil saga's spectacular worldwide box office total to over $930 million.
In 2014, Anderson released the award-winning “Pompeii,” which featured an all-star ensemble cast led by “Game of Thrones” Kit Harrington as well as Kiefer Sutherland, Emily Browning, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Carrie-Anne Moss and Jared Harris. It was a classic story of love, friendship, greed and betrayal, set between the spectacle of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. “Pompeii” was a visually stunning extravaganza that managed to gross $120 million worldwide.
Anderson returned to direct his most successful saga in 2015 to write and direct the culmination of the multi-billion dollar franchise, RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER, the latest installment in the series, cleverly tying together 15 years of plots and combines beloved classic characters from the games with monstrous new adversaries, bringing to a close the story of the genre's incomparable heroine, Alice. Filmed with dynamic results in South Africa, this visually stunning and action-packed show opens on February 3, 2017 in Spain.
JEREMY BOLT (producer) created Impact Pictures with director Paul W.S. Anderson in 1992. Their first collaboration would come to fruition in 1994, with "Shopping," starring Jude Law (Channel Four Films), an action-packed film about young Britons who steal cars for moon landings, which it launched Bolt's career and made his passion for cars and fast-paced racing well established. Once brought to the attention of Hollywood, Bolt began producing big-budget films such as "Final Horizon (Event Horizon)" (Paramount) and "Soldier" (Warner Bros.). In 2002, “Resident Evil” (Sony Screen Gems) would become the first production resulting from the agreement to create a joint venture between Impact Picture and Germany's largest independent distributor, Constantin Film, which would go on to gross over $100 million in everyone.
Through the Constantin joint venture, Bolt produced 2004 “Resident Evil: Apocalypse” for Sony Screen Gems, which would be followed by the psychological horror “The Dark,” the teen actioner “DOA: Dead or Alive", an adaptation of the best-selling fighting game franchise from the Japanese company Tecmo, and, already in 2007, the third installment of the blockbuster Resident Evil franchise, "Resident Evil 3: Extinction", which on its opening weekend it was the #1 box office in the United States and would go on to gross $150 million worldwide. Bolt also produced a 2007 reimagining of Roger Corman's cult classic, Starring Jason Statham, Joan Allen and Ian McShane, “Death Race” with Cruise/Wagner Productions for Universal Pictures. In the fall of 2009, the sci-fi horror film “Pandorum” was released by Overture Films and Constantin Film, starring Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster. The fourth installment in the Resident Evil franchise opened in the fall of 2010 and grossed $300 million worldwide. The action-horror mix “Resident Evil: Afterlife” was shot in 3D for Constantin Film and Sony Screen Gems, and starred Milla Jovovich and Ali Larter. After this commercial success, there would come an update of the Alexandre Dumas classic "The Three Musketeers", directed by Paul W.S. Anderson in 3D for Constantin Film and Summit Entertainment ($150 million worldwide box office).
In 2013, “Resident Evil: Vengeance” dominated the worldwide box office. It opened at number one in the United States and broke records in Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Korea, Russia, and Latin America.

His productions, which are also distributed through Metropolitan, include flagship French film productions, European productions and co-productions, and American productions.
Under the leadership of Victor and Samuel, Metropolitan has brought the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Resident Evil and The Hunger Games series, the Silent Hill sagas to great critical and commercial success in France and The Expendables, and films by such well-known directors as George Clooney, Terry Gilliam, Brian De Palma, David Cronenberg, Christophe Gans, David Fincher, Park Chan Wook, Martin Scorsese, Claude Lelouch and Steven Spielberg, among others.
Although Samuel is mainly dedicated to the development, presentation and production of his projects, Victor is in charge of the distribution and financing of the productions, with highly innovative results. Metropolitan has entered into long-term agreements with such prestigious companies as New Line Cinema, Lionsgate and Dreamworks, thus ensuring a varied and assorted catalogue, and providing the means for the Hadida brothers to develop their own productions with demanding ambition and fascinated curiosity.
Victor has also led Metropolitan to handle Asian cinema. Through Metropolitan's HK label, he has contributed since the 1980s to introducing Asian films and talent to new viewers in Europe.
The company has also become one of the main investors in the use of new technologies applicable to both film marketing and content distribution. Metropolitan Films was a pioneer since 2008 in the transition to digital cinema and 3D technology in cinemas and video. Metropolitan Films is the largest shareholder of the major French video-on-demand operator (as well as DVD distributor and rights aggregator) Le Meilleur du Cinéma, which counts among its other shareholders the French government (through the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations ), private investors and the most active French independent distributors and producers. Victor Hadida has been the architect of the company's international development, which includes its expansion through video-on-demand platforms throughout Europe (such as in the Benelux and Spain), as part of the EUROVOD network.
Le Meilleur du Cinéma runs the French video-on-demand platform Cinema à la Demand for Metropolitan as its exclusive video-on-demand service, and also provides technical deployment services for public and private sector organizations such as TV5 Monde , the Bibliotheque National de France (BNF) and the ARTE television service, with whom he created the Mediatheque available in public libraries and, more recently, the author-focused platform La CINETEK.
The quality and originality of the films presented by the Hadida brothers have led them to be selected on numerous occasions by the most prestigious festivals in the world, including the Cannes Film Festival.
In recognition of Victor's exceptional professional and artistic credibility, combined with his group leadership skills, he has been consistently unanimously elected President of the National Federation of French Film Distributors since 2006, representing more than 50 companies in France and more than 80% of the total admissions of French cinemas. Within the general framework of this mandate, he works for the common interests of the French film industry, in particular within BLIC, which he recently chaired in 2015.
In addition, Victor has been consistently elected President of the International Federation of Film Distributors (FIAD) in Europe since 2007, which brings together and oversees the national film distribution organizations of twelve European countries and more than 275 active companies. Under Victor's leadership, FIAD has played an important role in addressing pressing issues of audiovisual content distribution and regulation in Europe.
EDWARD THOMAS (Production Design) hails from Swansea, South Wales, and exhibited a clear interest in art and theater from an early age. He completed a Foundation Course with Distinction in Art at Swansea College in 1989. He subsequently graduated with honors from the Wimbledon School of Art in Three-Dimensional Theatrical Design in 1992. His career in theater began at the Royal Opera House, as an assistant designer in a montage of “Turandot”.
In the years that followed, Edward designed a number of commercials, before entering the world of film, where he got his first experience in the period film “The Mystery of Edwin Drood,” an adaptation of Charles Dickens' unfinished detective story.
His film career continued to progress and he gained extensive experience working in Africa and other parts of the world, amassing a varied resume of 18 films, in genres as diverse as Western, Vikings, Family, Fantasy, Thriller, Sci-Fi, Contemporary and of that season.
On his return to Wales, Edward embarked on the relaunch of the iconic sci-fi television series “Doctor Who” (seasons 1-5) as well as “Torchwood” (seasons 1-3), “The Sarah Jane Adventures” and “Sherlock” for BBC Wales. Edward temporarily returned to Africa to design "Outcasts" for the production company Kudos, another large-scale science fiction series. Returning to the UK, he explored the story of the Munich plane crash in 'United' for World Productions and the BBC2 series 'Line of Duty'. Most recently, Edward has designed and co-produced all three seasons of the hit series "Da Vinci's Demons," created by David Goyer for Starz TV, as well as the Dylan Thomas biopic "Set Fire to the Stars," starring Elijah Wood.
Edward's executive producer credits include the documentary drama “Jack to a King: The Swansea Story.”
Edward has received numerous accolades for his work, including BAFTA Cymru and RTS Award nominations for “Best Design”, and a BAFTA National Award nomination for “Breakthrough Talent”. In 2006, he won a BAFTA Cymru Award for “Best Design” for his work on “Torchwood”, while in 2010 he won “Best Design” for “Doctor Who: The Waters of Mars”. Edward was also voted to the top of the Welsh Arts Power list in 2015.
Edward resides in Swansea with his wife, Nathalie, and daughters, Nell and Macy. He is Vice President of both Swansea City Football Club and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and runs the Adjacent Educational Project, all of which mean a lot to him.

ABOUT CONSTANTIN FILM
Constantin Film AG, a company of Highlight Communications AG, has been a symbol of quality and success for almost 40 years, and has made a crucial contribution to the development and renown of German cinema both at home and abroad. The company, which has been part of Constantin Medien AG since 2009, is the largest German independent production creator and distributor in the entire field of audiovisual fiction and non-fiction. The company's business is based on the five pillars of film production, rights acquisition, film distribution, home theater, licensing/television exploitation and television production (mainly television entertainment).
Constantin Film AG has released 39 of the 100 most successful German films of the last 15 years, including four of the top five: “Manitou's Treasure” (11.7 million admissions), “Dreamship Surprise : Period 1” (9 million), “Fack ju Göhte” (7.3 million) and “Fack ju Göhte 2” (7.64 million). Among the most outstanding titles of recent years are the extraordinary Bernd Eichinger production “Perfume: The Story of a Murderer”, the Oscar nominated “The Subsidence” and the Oscar winner “Somewhere in Africa”, as well as productions own and co-productions “La masai blanca”, “La ola”, “R.A.F. Red Army Faction”, “Vicky the Viking”, “He's Back” and the international hit series “Resident Evil”.
The year 2015, in which five films reached figures of one million admissions or more, was one of the most successful in the history of Constantin Film AG. In addition to "Frau Müller muss weg!", "The Five and the Secret of the Pyramid" and "Ostwind 2", the adaptation of the best-selling book "He's Back" and "Fack ju Göhte 2" filled cinemas throughout Germany in the fall of 2015. With a total number of viewers of 7.64 million, “Fack ju Göhte 2” achieved the best viewership figures of 2015 and even surpassed its predecessor.
In addition to its own productions and co-productions for the big screen, Constantin Film is constantly expanding its field of action: in this age of great popularity for series, the company is letting the times lead and is creating its own series for different exploitation platforms. It began in January 2016 with the internationally produced series “Shadowhunters”, based on the best-selling fantasy books “Shadowhunters”, by Cassandra Clare, which airs on the US channel Freeform (formerly ABC Family), while its rights for the rest of the world are in the hands of Netflix. "Shadowhunters" is in its second season, which began airing in the United States on January 2, 2017.
